Appointments for principals

The Education Ministry on the initiative of Minister Susil Premajayantha has expedited the appointment of school principals, which was delayed due to the withholding of the relevant examination for recruitment of principals from 1999 to 2006. An Education Ministry release said the Government restored this examination in 2006 and appointed grade 2 (level II) principals after conducting interviews at provincial level. But these appointments were delayed following a Supreme Court decision on the matter.

Now steps have been made to appoint grade 2-II and grade III principals before May 30 in accordance with the Supreme Court order.

The release said recruitments to grade one of the Educational Administrative Service delayed due to a Court order too may be completed before May 30 since the relevant interviews have also been commenced.
