Sierra Global receives ISO 9001:2008 certification
Sierra Global received the ISO 9001:2008 certification after the
final audit conducted by Bureau Vertias Lanka (Pvt) Ltd.
“I consider this as a significant achievement as we are the first
company in the telecom infrastructure development sector in Sri Lanka to
receive the ISO 9001:2008 certification,” Director/CEO of Sierra Global,
Dr. Arosha Fernando said.
As the second step of our commitment towards quality, actions have
been already initiated to achieve ‘5S’ which we are hoping to get within
the next 3 months, Dr. Fernando said.
ISO 9001 is the world’s most established quality framework. ISO 9001
helps to effectively manage any businesses as well as meeting of the
customer’s requirements. Currently it is used by approximately 897,000
organizations in 170 countries, and approximately 650 organisations in
Sri Lanka.
It helps all types of organizations to succeed through improved
customer satisfaction, staff motivation and continual improvement.
By the end of 2010 existing certification issued to ISO 9001:2000
will no longer be valid. All ISO certified organisations will need the
revised version of ISO 9001 in order to keep their certificates up to
date.
Sierra Global is specialized in end to end telecommunication and
relating services covering the fields of network planning, site
acquisition, site development / civil construction, network
implementation of switches and base stations, technical support, network
services, consultancy services including international roaming,
logistics and managed services. Sierra Global’s customer base covering
over 40 clients including all telecom operators in Sri Lanka as well as
selected telecom operators overseas such as British Telecom, Telstra and
Vodafone.
