Thera a blessing to country - Governor

Ven. Aluthgama Bogamuwe Saddharansi Thera who makes great sacrifices by considering other people's problems as his own for mere self-satisfaction is a blessing not only to the Sasana but also to the whole country, said North Central Province Governor Karunaratna Divulgane.

Governor Divulgane was speaking at a ceremony at the Anuradhapura Siri Sangabo Meditation Centre to felicitate Ven. Saddharansi Thera who was appointed Sanghanayake Thera of Raja Rata with the honorary title Sasana Keerthi Saddharma Wageeswara Dharmaprabha Dheeranandabidhana.

Governor Divulgane offered the Sannas Patthraya to the Thera while Chief Minister Berty Premalal Dissanayaka offered him a Vijinipatha.

A group headed by Minister S.M. Chandrasena performed the Prasada Pooja.

The Governor said: "Ven. Saddharansi Thera is a greatly honoured disciplinarian.

"He had made a great contribution to the development of the Elayapatthuwa hospital.

"I saw at Nelliyakulama the great creative work of 500 statues of Arahants led by the Buddha in the walking posture. This was a brain-child of Ven. Saddharansi Thera".
