World Flu cases surpass 1,500
Switzerland: The World Health Organization (WHO) says the number of
victims of the Influenza A (H1N1) virus is 1,516 in 22 countries.
Mexico ranks at the top with 822 people infected, including 29 dead,
followed by the United States, with 403 cases, two of which resulted in
deaths.
WHO Director Margaret Chan called the world to keep an eye on
outbreaks. She reminded that as winter is reaching the southern
hemisphere, seasonal flu cases may rise, developing unpredictably.
She called the regional countries to increase control and prevention
work.
The expert added that a pandemic alert remains in phase 5 out of six,
with no intention to raise the warning levels for now.
