New Chief Minister calls on Archbishop
The newly appointed Western Province Chief Minister Prasanna
Ranatunga and his wife met Archbishop Oswald Gomis at the Archbishop's
House yesterday.
Ranatunga secured 186,338 preferential votes in the Western
Provincial Council election.
The Episcopal Vicars of the Archdiocese Rev. Fr. Ivan Perera, Rev.
Fr. Cyril Gamini Fernando, Rev. Fr. Ranjith Madurawela-General Manager
of the Archdiocese of Catholic Schools, Procurator General Rev. Fr.
Hyacinth Perera and Deputy Procurator General Rev. Fr. Srinath Manoj
Perera were also present. The Archbishop congratulated Ranatunga on his
success at the election and also on the appointment as the Chief
Minister. The Chief Minister and the Archbishop discussed about the
situation in the country and the importance of educating more children
for the development and harmony in the country.
The Archbishop presented a copy of his latest book on 'Some Christian
Contributions in Sri Lanka' to the Chief Minister. |
