President opens Vihara, Dharma Mandiraya in Wadduwa
A new Vihara Mandiraya and a Dharma Mandiraya built near the historic
Bodhi at the Thalpitiya Sri Bodhidamarama Maha Viharaya Wadduwa were
ceremonially opened by President Mahinda Rajapaksa on Wednesday.
The President also unveiled a name board renaming the Bodhidamaramaya
as Bodhi Raja Maha Viharaya. The Maha Sangha led by the Viharadipati and
Peradeniya University lecturer Ven. Dr. Kotapitiye Rahula Thera chanted
Seth Pirith and invoked blessings on the President.
A financial contribution made by the Maha Sangha attached to the
Viharaya for the welfare of IDPs in the North was also handed over to
the President at this ceremony.
Ven. Dr. Ittepana Dhammananda Anunayake Thera of the Kotte Kalyani
Samagri Dharma Maha Sangha Sabha and chairman Nippon Group of Companies
were among the large gathering at the ceremony. |
