Plan to assassinate Minister Devananda

Police yesterday traced a plan to assassinate Social Services and
Welfare Minister Douglas Devananda.
According to Police, Rs. 20 million received from the LTTE has been
given to the suspected contractor to assassinate Minister Devananda. A
married couple residing in the first floor of the Pettah Fish Market was
used by the LTTE to carry out the plan.
The contract killer had been given Rs. 01 million, a revolver and an
automatic weapon. The main suspect with the weapons have been taken into
custody by the police. |
