Institute of Landscape Architects Bill approved
To develop the profession of landscape architecture:
Uditha KUMARASINGHE and Irangika RANGE
The Government will set up the Sri Lanka Institute of Landscape
Architects to develop the profession of landscape architecture in Sri
Lanka to internationally accepted standards.
Parliament yesterday approved a Bill of Sri Lanka Institute of
Landscape Architects presented by Urban Development and Sacred Area
Development Minister Dinesh Gunawardana.
The Minister said landscape architecture is a vital area in the
process of sustainable development, conserving and improving the
environment.
The functions of the Institute will be to promote and advance the
study, practice, application, and research at the landscape architecture
and its related subjects and the arts and sciences connected.
This has also aimed to promote establish and maintain close relations
with the profession worldwide, including the international exchange of
knowledge, skills and experience in both educational and professional
spheres. |
