The National Chamber of Exporters (NCE) of Sri Lanka will present the
17th annual NCE Export Awards on September 25, 2009 at the Hilton
Colombo, to salute the 'best from the best' for the year 2008.
The Chamber will not only recognize exporters but also those who
support exporters to achieve outstanding performance. Applications were
posted to all members of the Chamber in March this year. Flyers were
also sent out to non members to enable them to apply.
Product Sectors and categories for which awards are made are as
follows:
Categories: Small, Medium, Large, Extra Large.
Sectors:
1. Agriculture - Bulk
2. Agriculture - Value Added
3. Tea - Bulk
4. Tea - Value Added
5. Industry - Garments
6. Industry - Others
7. Minerals - Bulk
8. Minerals - Value Added
9. Precious Stones and Jewellery
10. Suppliers / Service Providers to Exporters
11. Export of Business and Professional Services including BOPs
Gold, Silver, Bronze trophies and Merit Certificates are awarded
to each of the above sectors and categories.
Special awards are also made for:
Best Woman Exporter - Gold
Best Sri Lankan Brand Exporter - Gold
Best Performance in Each Sector - Gold
Most Outstanding Exporter - Overall - Gold
Most Outstanding Exporter - Runner up - Silver |
In view of the keen interest shown by our members as well as non
members the Chamber conducted an awareness seminar which was held this
month at the Sri Lanka Tea Board Auditorium.
At the awareness seminar the immediate past President Kulatunga
Rajapaksa said that NCE is the only Chamber which has been conducting an
awards ceremony of this magnitude for a continuous period of 17 years
and up to last year the NCE had given away nearly 1,000 awards.

G. Tillekeratne, explained in detail the criteria and important aspects
that should be highlighted relating to their performance that should be
emphasized by applicants.
The Chairman of panel of judges, Dr. Uditha Liyanage told the
participants on the marketing strategies and branding of export products
and their proper presentation to ensure recognition of efforts made by
exporters. |
