Let us salute our war heroes - Kuliyapitiya SP
S. M. WIJAYARATNE Kurunegala corr.
Sri Lankans were able to celebrate the Sinhala and Tamil New Year
free from LTTE fear for the first time in 30 years. We should show our
gratitude to our brave Security Forces for giving us this opportunity.
It is therefore our bounden duty to do everything for the welfare of the
family members of our war heroes. This is the least we can do for them,
said Superintendent of Police for Kuliyapitiya, Ranjith Padmasiri.
He was addressing the New Year Festival at Bingiriya recently.
The festival was organised by the Seva Vanitha Unit of the
Kuliyapitiya Police Division in collaboration with Bingiriya Divisional
Secretary's Office, Bingiriya Police Station and Bingiriya War Heroes'
Welfare Association.
Padmasiri said that the people can enjoy living freely and happily
due to the sacrifices of our brave war heroes who are putting their
lives on the line fighting LTTE terrorists.
"Our main duty and responsibility is to look after the welfare of
family members of war heroes as they are making a priceless contribution
to liberate this noble island from brutal terrorism," Padmasiri added.
Divisional Secretary of the Bingiriya district M. D. Somaratne said
that the children of war heroes should be treated like our own and
should be greatly cherished. Sri Lanka is proud of the children of war
heroes who have made the supreme sacrifice for the Motherland.
