More medical services, relief flood to IDPs

Manik Farm which houses nearly 50,000 displaced civilians who fled the LTTE controlled areas will get the services of 50 doctors from France shortly, Sabaragamuwa Province Chief Minister Maheepala Herath said.

In addition to the existing four temporary medical centres manned by Government doctors on voluntary basis, there will be more such centres in No. 2 zone of this camp very shortly. Various UNO based organizations together with WHO camps have already expanded these relief services in this camp.

Civilians sheltered here will be temporarily resettled in the next few days, competent Authority Major General P. A. Chandrasiri said.

Urban Development Minister Rohana Dissanayake brought in a fresh stock of relief materials last Monday and handed it over to Chief Minister Maheepala Herath.

Manik Farm continues to receive large stocks of dry rations and sanitary items collected from various organizations and philanthropists from various parts of Sri Lanka in the past few days.
