More houses for soldiers
Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa last Sunday inspected the
construction of the Ippalogama Housing Scheme which is dedicated for the
soldiers who showed exceptional performance in their fight to protect
the territorial integrity and soverignity of the Motherland.
The construction of the housing units is nearing completion and the
Sri Lanka Navy is currently supervising the construction. This housing
scheme funded by the Api Venuwen Api Fund which was set up for the
welfare of soldiers who have dedicated their lives to free the country
from the scourge of terrorism which has plagued the country’s progress
for decades.
The Defence Secretary urged those in charge of the construction to
rapidly finish the project. He also visited the pre-school which has
already been completed at the Ipalogama Housing Scheme.
Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa thanked the Sri Lanka Naval
engineers who are taking tireless effort to complete the construction of
the housing scheme soon. Ioma Rajapaksa, Defence Ministry Additional
Secretary Willy Gamage and senior officers of the Armed Forces also
participated. (courtesy www.defence.lk)
