People have responded to call for united country

Media and Information Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa said the courage and patriotism paid by rural and urban voters have showed their solidarity with the President at the Western Provincial Council Election. It’s President’s triumph, he added.

“The election was held in a totally peaceful and calm manner. No serious incident or election violation was reported throughout the process,” he said.

“People have clearly responded to the call of the President for a united Sri Lanka. The President believed in himself in wiping out terrorism, and the people also believed in him,” the Minister said.

By all means this is a genuine victory achieved by way of a free and fair election. This general political background will easily integrate into the President’s determination of establishing a lasting legacy of democracy, development and civilization for Sinhala, Tamil, Muslim and other ethnic communities in our Motherland,” Minister Yapa said.
