Applications called for UN model meeting
The United Nations Information Centre has called applications from
University level students to take part in the first annual Global Model
UN conference to be held in Geneva, Switzerland from August 5 to 7.
The conference organised by the UN Department of Public Information (UNDPI)
will be a simulation of UN General Assembly Plenary Sessions and four of
the Assembly's main Committees with the theme "The Millennium
Development Goals: Lifting the Bottom Billion out of poverty".
A UNIC release said all applicants must be 18 to 24 years by August
6, 2009 and enrolled in a University for the 2008-2009 academic year.
They also should have at least one year of model UN experience. The
individual delegate application form on the web:http:// Colombo.unic.org
should be perfected with proof of enrolment form signed by the
University Administrative Office and emailed to eduction- [email protected]
on or before May 20, 2009.
Students should put the Global model UN individual application and
their name in the subject line of the email.
Students accepted as delegates will be responsible for their travel
to and from Geneva and the cost of accommodation, transport and meals.
The UNDPI will try to find sponsors for students from developing
countries who cannot afford to cover their expenses.
