Nimal Silva snooker champ

The George Ondaatjie annual snooker tournament was concluded at a
glittering ceremony at the Grand Hotel Nuwara Eliya amidst a large and
distinguished gathering with seventy eight participants from the entire
country.
Nimal Silva of the Grand Hotel, Nuwara Eliya SC won the championship
beating S. M. M. Aslam of the Moors Sports Club convincingly and carried
away the George Ondaatjie Challenge Trophy.
W. A. Sampath Perera of the Kandy Pool Parlour was placed third.
Palaka D. L. Perera, the General Manager of the Grand Hotel, Nuwara
Eliya awarded the Challenge Trophy to the winner Nimal Silva and the
other prizes were given away by the Resident Manager Grand Hotel, Raju
N. Veerasingham, T. Anbagalagam of the Grand Hotel Sports Club
Secretary, Mrs. Harinee de Costa, the Secretary of the Grand Hotel.
The chief sponsors were the Hatton National Bank, Nuwara Eliya, and
the cash awards were presented by the Manager of the HNB Indravasam and
A. P. Lasantha Fernando, Assistant General Manager, Recoveries and
Credit Quality Management of the HNB and Haseem Mohamed, Assistant
Manager of the Grand Hotel, Nuwara Eliya.
