Election violence began with 1982 referendum - EC
The 1982 referendum was the base of the election
violence and also specially the preferential vote system brought
inter-party and intra-party rivalry into this country, Elections
Commissioner Dayananda Dissanayaka said at a press conference in
Colombo yesterday (22).
