Sailing regatta at Galle harbour for Navy Cup

The Yachting Association of Sri Lanka in collaboration with the Sri
Lanka Navy are making arrangements to having a sailing regatta in the
Galle Harbour for members of the three sailing clubs in Sri Lanka viz,
Ceylon Motor Yacht Club, Navy Sailing Club and the Royal Colombo Yacht
Club.
This sailing regatta will be held for the Navy Challenge Cup and
takes place on Saturday May 2 and Sunday May 3 at the Galle harbour and
its environs on the sea. There will be around 20 sailing boats with
around 40 participants. They will compete on a well marked out specified
course with two races on Saturday and a single race on Sunday. The
sailing calendar which commences in April, did witness the election of
office-bearers of the Ceylon Motor Yacht Club for the year 2009/10, who
are viz:
Commodore - Asanka Goonewardena; Vice Commodore - Duncan Fraser; Rear
Commodore - Mohan Balasuriya; Sailing Convenor - Stephen Giffin; Motor
Boat Convenor - Joseph Kenny; Fleet Captain - Ms Pam Peiris; Treasurer -
Chandima Gunawardena; Secretary - Steen Wetlesen. Committee members -
Lalin Jirasingha, Jeremy Bolling, Hans Svendsen; Trustees - Nihal
Jinasena, David Blackler.
The Galle harbour sailing regatta however is being organised by YASL
along with the Navy with the support of CMYC and the RCYC.
