All measures taken to treat sick IDPs

The Healthcare and Nutrition Ministry has taken all steps to provide
medical treatment and free healthcare facilities for people escaping
from the LTTE and arriving from Pudumathalam. Essential life saving
drugs, medical equipment, ambulances, doctors and staff have already
been sent, there, a Healthcare and Nutrition Ministry spokesman said.
He said immediate steps were taken by Healthcare and Nutrition
Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva under the instructions of President
Mahinda Rajapaksa after a special discussion held on Tuesday evening.
The patients who need special care will be transported to Colombo
National Hospital and other state hospitals located in Colombo to
provide special medical treatment.
This procedure has been in operation from the beginning but since the
recent past the number of patients who need special care have been
increased due to LTTE suicide bomb attacks and the increasing number of
people arriving from LTTE clutches.
According to the spokesman all human resources and other requirements
have already been sent to the North. |
