No stopping young Trinitians
Sharm de Alwis
In perfect conditions underfoot, following early afternoon showers
Trinity Past and Present indulged in the curtain raising fifteen-a-side
chuckers at Havelocks on Saturday, 4th April.
Against seasoned champions of the past who are by no means long in
the tooth nor whose muscles have gone to bed, the Young Trinitians
dished out a pleasing performance of run and pass interspersed with
robust performances of even coarageously running across the goal mouth.
They won 5 tries to 3 and are set ominously to take on opposition
which commences on April 25 at Pallakelle against St Joseph’s.
Clement Isaacs who is a IRB Refereee based in Dubai flew down
specifically to blow the whistle in a masterly manner.
The spectatorship of over 200 went away, totally gratified at the
proceedings.
The Old Boys were herded by the Old Trinitians’ Rugby Scrummage whose
President has been the only prop forward to play as inside three with
the task of marking a marauding, fleet-footed opposite number. Both
teams were hosted to dinner by the OTRS at S.W.Chang’s plush Park View
Lodge on de Saram Road, Maradana.
