‘JVP, a victim of extremists, conspirators’

The JVP had become a victim of extremists and conspirators today and the UPFA would win the Western Provincial elections while the UNP would fall into a political abyss, JNP Parliamentarian Namal Gunasekera said at the UPFA press conference held at the Mahaweli Centre yesterday (8).

The killing of Nandana Balage on April 5 was a conspiracy and if the JVP proves it was done by the JNP Parliamentarian Piyasiri Wijenayaka or the two JNP candidates we will resign from politics and we reiterate that we are for democracy and not for violence. We would reveal who the conspirators were.

Our leader Wimal Weerawansa would give the police the facts about the persons behind the crime, he said.

This crime had been committed to tarnish the image of the UPFA. The UPFA that won the war against terrorism was winning the economic war too.

Though the JVP was a honest political party there was a group within it at present who were resorting to violent methods.
