Disability a natural phenomenon
Wehelle Piyathilake, Maharagama special corr.
Disability is not disability. It is a natural phenomenon. The duty
and responsibility of abled people is to make the disabled abled
persons. Disableds do not need mere compassion, they need their space to
harness inborn talents, said Ven. Dr. Talagala Sumanarathana Thera.
He made these observations speaking at a ceremony organised by the 'Arogya'
Foundation for the Disabled at Nalandaramaya Temple, Pathiragoda,
Maharagama.
This ceremony was organised to distribute equipment needed by
disabled persons. Three special baby beds, five wheelchairs, 10 handcups,
five walking sticks and four walkers were distributed.
Arogya Foundation launched a project to distribute equipment needed
by disabled persons specially in remote areas.
This equipment was donated to the foundation by Sng Choon Eng, Goh
