Durable peace will dawn in the country very soon, said Chief Justice
Sarath Nanda Silva at the inauguration of the blood donation campaign
held at the Anuradhapura Courts Complex premises on Saturday.
The blood donation program had been organised by the Anuradhapura
Courts Complex Welfare Society to help the war heroes fighting LTTE
terrorism in the North.
The Chief Justice was in Anuradhapura on a two day visit to
participate at the annual 'Atamasthana pooja' which was conducted at the
Ruwanweli Seya Chetiya on March 4 and 5.
Chief Justice Sarath Silva said that he had an opportunity to visit
the Victory Military hospital Anuradhapura where a large number of
gallant war heroes are being treated.
"It is a highly meritorious deed to attend to their needs and lend a
helping hand to their families. In the circumstances the blood donation
to the war heroes is of great national importance, the Chief Justice
said. He said that the majority of our war heroes were village youth.
They were so patriotic that they had come forward to sacrifice their
lives for the sake of the peace, the territorial integrity and
sovereignty of the nation.
As such there was a program to help the families of the war heroes
such as offering free spectacles etc.
A large number of judges, lawyers and members of the court staff
donated blood and participated at the religious activities. |
