Massive funds for development

The Government spent over Rs. 1,000 million on infrastructure and
livelihood development projects in the North Western Province, said
Highways Minister T.B. Ekanayake at Wariyapola Eethanagolla.
Minister T.B. Ekanayake was unveiling the plaque for the construction
of the Wariyapola Eethanagolla bridge requested by the people of
Wariyapola and Eethanagolla who join hands and help to construct the
bridge as soon as possible. He said the Government has allocated Rs. 15
million for this task and several roads and bridges that had been
neglected in the Wariyapola electorate would also be repaired.
The Minister said “Mahinda Chinthana” would pave the way for
developments in all the sectors and it is the duty of all concerned
parties to extend the fullest support to the Government and we must work
together to develop our area.
He said that Ranil and his henchmen try to mislead the masses and
obtain political gain.
Political leaders of different parties like Wimal Weerawansa,
Arumugan Thondaman and Chandrasekaram have already pledged to support
the Government. The Minister said I remind the people of Wariyapola when
Ranil came to power in 2001, he did not provide any employment.
That is why during the last PC election the patriotic citizens of
Sath Korale gave us a two third majority to form a strong Provincial
Council in Wayamba.
The UPFA is the only party that could bring prosperity to the
country.
He said the SLFP has a great political history under the leadership
of late Prime Minister S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike.
This party is going to be the strongest party in Sri Lanka by 2009
because more and more JVP and UNP supporters are joining the S.L.F.P. in
the droves as they are fed up with their party leadership.
Wanninayake Areyawa technological officer of flyovers and bridges
said that there is no military solution to this national problem but
reiterated that all types of terrorism should be defeated militarily as
long as the terrorists held on to their arms.
He said that until a final solution is proposed devolution already
granted under the 13th amendment should be implemented after the war.
