Girl hacked to death: Father in custody

Police took into custody a man for allegedly hacking his seven year-old daughter to death and seriously injuring his wife.

The man and an accomplice had committed the crime in his house at St. Mary's Road, Pallansena early Saturday.

The deceased is W.S. Ayla Roshanee.

Her injured mother Nadeeka Damayanthi, 26 has been admitted to the Colombo National Hospital.

The child's father has been taken into custody.

Police allege that the men had caused injuries with a sharp manna knife over a family dispute.

It is alleged that the father had attempted to commit suicide later. Kochchikade police is investigating.
