Massive progress during past few years - Galle District SLFP
organizer
Mahinda. P. Liyanage, Galle Central Special Corr.
"My vision of politics is not customary of transmitted. It is modern,
authentic, and workable.
"To accomplish the mission based on my vision, I would appoint a
representative of mine to each of 896 Gramaseva divisions in the
districts, thereby establishing people's committees in each village
which would discuss and comment on their problems and requirements
followed by their recommendations for the course of actions, to suit
their village, said the Galle district S.L.F.P Organizer and
Coordinating Secretary of President Sajin Vaas Gunawardana.
He gave this assurance at his first ever meeting with the provincial
media men of the district last Friday (April 3) organized by him at a
leading hotel in Hikkaduwa.
"Massive progress in every field has been ushered in during the past
few years under the guidance of President Mahinda Rajapaksa and for the
consummation of the remaining development work, I have an operational
plan which would specifically cover the remotest areas of the district
with a target of accomplishing all the infra- structural facilities in
the district by 2010-2011, he added.
Gunawardana also affirmed that the close and cordial relationship
among journalists and politicians was essential for the uplift of the
country and the people as they are the leading persons who will touch
the pulse of the people and sense the heart-beat of the masses and who
could, thereby educate the politicians and the relevant authorities over
the problems and shortcomings in the society.
"I am making arrangements to set-up my offices in each electorate,
some of which have already been instituted with the main centre in
Ambalangoda. Any member of the public can directly approach these
offices and submit their problems and needs which would be swiftly and
promptly attended by the relevant officials. These offices would not be
mere election offices."
"They would function as centres for development of the district, he
further elaborated," he said. He also stated that he was committed to
resolve the unemployment problem of the district and attend to the
shortcomings in the industries of the region, such as tea, cinnamon,
coconut and affiliated industries. |
