Trinity down Willows

Trinity College secured a good four wicket win over the Visiting Willows Cricket Club from North Canterbury in New Zealand in limited over cricket match played at the Asgiriya Stadium in Kandy yesterday.

The visitors after a poor start when they lost both of their openers for 6, made good recovery through useful third wicket stand of 73 between James Richard (28) and Sam Lowson (37) before the latter was run out.

The innings folded up thereafter against the off spin of Traveen Ratnayake who took 4 for 27 off 9 overs.

Trinity hit off the runs required for the loss of 6 wickets.

Willows CC: 127 all out in 43.2 overs (Sam Lowson 37, James Richard 28, Matt Vintar 15, Chinthaka Gokula 2 for 10, Suresh Wickrema 2 for 11, Traveen Ratnayake 4 for 27)

Trinity College: 128 for 6 wickets in 26.1 overs (Kithmal Wimalaweera 20, Suresh Wickrema 23, Shameera Wijesooriya 27 not out, Taware Waru 3 for 26).
