CB appoints four new Deputy Governors
The Monetary Board has promoted four Assistant Governors, Ms. M A R C
Cooray, K G D D Dheerasinghe, Dr. P W R B A U Herat and Dr. D S
Wijesinghe to the post of Deputy Governor with effect from March 13, May
23, May 27 and July 07, 2009 respectively.
Ms. M A R C Cooray
Ms. M A R C Cooray has 35 years of experience in the wide area of
Central Bank activities including economic research, human resources
management, secretariat, legal, regional development, banking
development, fiscal policy, communication and as Secretary to the
Monetary Board. Prior to this appointment she has held the position of
Assistant Governor for about 8 years.
Dr. P W R B A U Herat
Dr. P W R B A U Herat has been in the Central Bank for 26 years and
has wide experience in the Statistics Department, Economic Research
Department and as an Assistant Governor in charge of Bank Supervision,
Supervision of Non-Bank Financial Institution Department, Financial
Stability Departments and several operational departments.
He is a macroeconomist, who has worked mostly areas of financial
systems and price stability of the Central Bank. On release to IMF, Dr.
Herat served as the Alternate Executive Director for Bangladesh, Bhutan,
India and Sri Lanka in IMF from 2004 to 2007.
K G D D Dheerasinghe
K G D D Dheerasinghe has been in the Central Bank for 32 years and
has wide experience in Economic Research Department, Statistics
Department, Public Debt Department, Bank Supervision Department and
Information Technology Department. In his capacity as an Assistant
Governor, he has supervised key departments such as Bank Supervision
Department, Supervision of Non-Bank Financial Institution Department,
Public Debt Department Financial System Stability Department and several
policy and operational departments. He has also functioned as the
Secretary to the Monetary Board during the period from 2004 to 2007. On
release to IMF, presently he is working as the Alternate Executive
Director in IMF for Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Sri Lanka.
Dr. D S Wijesinghe
Dr. D S Wijesinghe has been in the Central Bank for 35 years and has
wide experience in the economic research, statistics, domestic
operations and as an Assistant Governor in charge of several policy and
operational departments including Economic and Price Stability Cluster,
Policy Review and Monitoring Department, Financial Intelligence Unit,
and Exchange Control Department. Dr. Wijesinghe has served as a Research
Economist in SEACEN Research and Training Center, Malaysia from 1985 to
1987. |
