Salary issue to be resolved soon

The salary issue of Salu Sala employees will be resolved soon. President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday directed relevant officials to take immediate measures to effect the payment of all arrears of salaries to the Salu Sala staff before the Sinhala and Tamil New Year.

He issued this directive at a meeting held at Temple Trees to resolve problems confronting the Salu Sala. The Salu Sala has encountered serious problems regarding its future existence owing to the wrong management decisions taken by the previous regime it was revealed at this meeting, a Presidential Media Unit release said.

The President who pointed out that Salu Sala employees had fallen into difficulties owning of these wrong decisions directed officials to implement urgent measures to restructure the institution.

The Strategic Enterprise Management Institute (SEMA), Treasury, Industrial Development Ministry and the Textile Industries Ministry would jointly implement the restructuring program.
