Zahira cricket team felicitated

For the first time Zahira College, Colombo Cricket Committee headed by Ashroff Ghany (Chairman Cricket Committee) organised a felicitation ceremony to honour the Zahira Cricket Team, at Ghafoor Hall, Zahira College Colombo 10 on March 28 in front of a capacity audience.

The Zahira 1st XI Cricket team emerged champions last year in Division Two were awarded tokens of appreciation and sports gear for their magnificent performances in 1st XI cricket for the year 2008/2009.

The chief guest was Thilanga Sumathipala (Joint Managing Director Sumathi Group) who gave an inspiring speech which gave encouragement for all the up and coming cricketers and wished them success, while T. K. Azoor (Principal Zahira College) Justice Saleem Marsoof,

Fouzul Hameed (Chairman Board of Governors). Tony Amith (Chairman Sports Council) and Ashroff Ghany (Chairman Cricket Committee) also graced the occasion. The highlight in this ceremony was the Skipper M. Isham Ghouse who played a captains knock of a double century against Sri Devananda enjoyed a good season scoring 1251 runs and claiming 58 wickets, with one double century three centuries and two eighties for the season.
