FIFA to investigate

FIFA said Monday it is investigating after a Swedish linesman was struck by a coin thrown from the stands during a World Cup qualifying match in Northern Ireland.

The match between Northern Ireland and Poland at Windsor Park in Belfast on Saturday was held up for several minutes while the official was treated for a head injury.

The coin appeared to be thrown from a section of Northern Irish fans soon after the visiting Poles scored to level the match at 1-1 in the first half.
