Books launch
The re-print of renowned author Gamini G. Punchihewa’s books
‘Souvenirs of a forgotten Heritage’, ‘Random Ramblings’ and ‘Wanderlust’
will be launched at the Gamini Dissanayake Auditorium, Mahaweli Centre,
Colombo 7, on April 2 at 4 p.m.
Minister of Planning and Implementation P. Dayaratna will be the
Chief Guest of the event. Former Government Agent of Ampara district Dr.
Bradman Weerakoon, Retired Deputy Director of the Department of Archives
K.D. Paranavitana and Environmentalist and Lawyer Jagath Gunawardena
will speak. The books are Stamford Lake publications.
Concert at Wattala
A concert by the young '3 G party with Millennium Boys' will be held
at Keels Super, Wattala on April 4 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Those taking part are Fill T (6th Lane), Doggy, B-Side, Stringz, Spin
Circute, Sencer Tive, Gayantha, Thikshana, Gimantha and Amal.
Miyuresi at Dharmaraja
Miyuresi, musical show presented by ‘Siha Shakthi’ band led by
veteran musician Ananda Perera and organised by the Old Rajans Scout
Association together with the 1st Kandy Dharmaraja Scout Group will be
staged at the Dharmaraja College Auditorium,
Kandy on April 4 (Saturday) at 6 p.m. Three well-renowned artistes
Somathilaka Jayamaha, Amarasiri Peiris and Bandara K. Athauda will
perform in the show to grace the audience.
The Miyuresi show is organised to raise funds for the 100th
anniversary celebrations of the 1st Kandy Dharmaraja Scout Group and
proceeds will be in aid of rehabilitation and refurbishment of the Lake
View Park International Scout Centre which was opened in 1978 which is
located on a summit of a promontory with the 54 acre land belonging to
Dharmaraja College given a panoramic view of the surroundings.
Ingilasa - An oriental ballet
"Ingilasa," a ballet, choreographed and directed by veteran dancer
Nuwan Ranjith Priyanga, will be staged at John de Silva Memorial Theatre
on 2 April 7 p.m. Based on the story of "Kundalakeshee" of Buddhist
literature, this ballet depicts the affection, greed and collision of a
young princess and a bandit.
"Dilhan Ramyasiri and "Ranela Jayasooriya" will portray the main
roles while large amount of other dancers will also take part in this
ballet. Music score for this ballet is based on compositions of fusion
musicians of India. "Ingilasa" is the debut ballet creation of Ranjith
Priyanga and a presentation of dance section of the Carey College.
VAFA Annual Show 2009

Vibhavi Academy of Fine Arts, Ethul Kotte, Kotte will hold VAFA
Annual Show 2009 at Vibhavi Academy, 38, New Jayaweera Mawatha, Ethul
Kotte, Kotte, from March 31 to April 8 and from April 21 to 30. The
exhibition will be ceremonially opened on March 31, 2009 at 5 p.m.
Drawing, painting, sculpture, collage, pottery, and ceramic creations
will be included at the show.
VAFA is an alternative arts school offers visual arts programs in
drawing sculpture, painting collage, and ceramic designed to expose the
student to rigorous academic study and also highly liberal avant-garde
thinking, with the idea of evolving a vibrant creative personality in
the context of a culturally diverse Sri Lanka. |
