The 9th limited over match between St. Thomas' Matara and St.
Servatius', Matara will be played today at 10 a.m. at the Uyanwatta
stadium. St. Thomas' won the first one day encounter in the 2000 - while
their rivals won the match in 2003 - as both teams are equally balanced,
a keen contest expected.

Rukshan JAYAWEERA excels, St. Matthew's win
A fine unbeaten knock of 80 runs by allrounder Rukshan Jayaweera (7
fours and 2 sixes) and two good stands between skipper Kasun Rukshan 31
for the third wicket 83 runs partnership and finally an unbroken 96 runs
partnership for the fourth wicket between A. Dixon 31 no. helped St.
Matthew's to beat St. John's by 7 wickets in their 37th Annual 'Big
match' played at Shalika grounds Narahenpita over the weekend.
St. Matthew's registered their 13th match victory.

Two playgrounds to be modernised

The Ministry of Sports has taken steps to develop two play grounds in
Kalutara district to encourage the youth to take to sports. Under this
programme Bandaragama and Tebuwana play grounds will be modernised. The
Ministry has set apart one million rupees for the development of the
playgrounds. |
