Wildscapes II Exhibition of Sri Lankan nature photography
Some of the photographs at the exhibition |
The second solo exhibition of Dr. Sawan Waidyanatha will be held at
Kandy City Centre on March 28-29 from 10a.m. to 7p.m.
Dr. Sawan Waidyanatha is a Medical doctor by profession, attached to
the Cardiology Unit, Kandy Teaching Hospital.
His interest in nature photography began with his inborn love for
animals. Later on, this interest shifted to wild animals, and time spent
trying to catch and cage animals was spent visiting forests and national
parks.
The artiste is greatly influenced by Sri Lankan outdoor/nature
photographers Nihal Fernando and Dr. T. S. U. de Zylva. This resulted
Dr. Waidyanatha to take up nature photography on a more serious level.
The subjects of this exhibition are diverse, ranging from big game
animals like leopards and bears to smaller animals like birds and
lizards, to landscapes and extreme close-ups of flowers etc. The
subjects were selected more by opportunities presented than by choice. |
