Maathru Puja concert
Popular singer Sarath Weerasinghe's 'Maathru Puja' to mark the 30th
anniversary of his stage performance will be held on March 29 at 5 p.m.
at Veyangoda 'Sanasa' theatre.

His famous hits, Me an Bhavaye, Obi Obe Sina Podai, Hitchchi Nage,
Ridihawadi etc. are still fresh in the minds of his fans.
His foray into the music world began at the age of 12 when he became
the winner at an open singing contest. It was under the tutelage of
Visharada Dharmasena Jayalath and Vocalist Y. M. W. Sena that he further
informed his singing skills.
'Samaru Mihiri Gee' musical concert (1975), Veyangoda Classics,
SLBC's Pibidena Gayaka Parapura, Heta Payana Tharu, provided the
necessary skills to improve his skills, apart from singing his other
acquirements were confined to sports. He captained the CTB Volley Ball
team and was appointed a member of SL National Volley Ball selection
Board.
Madura Gee, Swarnagee, Obai Obe Sina Podai and Pawasa Niwana Gee
Amadara were his popular solo performances. Through his presentation,
Apsaravi, he gave a helping hand to the ameteurs in the music field. So
far he has released a number of CDs and Casettees. He has made his
presentations Maathru Puja, an occasion to pay tribute to his mother who
will present awards to 27 artistes who extended a helping hand to him
during the formative years of his career. |
