Dilan Chandima, Vice Captain of Prince of Wales College and Sri Lanka
Schools Poolist having played. Sixteen games missed the 1000 run mark by
a margin of 25 runs and with his leg spin he has taken 29 wickets this
season.
He Commenced his cricket career at Prince of Wales from the age group
of under 13 and went on to play in 15,17 and second eleven teams where
he was the vice captain of all three teams. Last year he represented in
only six games and could not play for the Big Match. He was awarded
colours.
When Cambrians lost to Thurstan in the finals for the Lemonade
Trophy. He was Vice Captain of the side which won the six-a-side
tournament. In addition he represented Western Province Titan team in
the twenty 20 Inter-Provincial tournament which won the Trophy.
Dilan in his journey scored two centuries and four fifties. He missed
a well deserved century by two runs against Thomians.
He is a fine fielder in any position and having a good arm.
Cambrians beat their arch rivals Sebastians in the 24th limited over
match which was worked off just after the Big match.
He was instrumental in piloting his team to victory in a huge margin
of 148 runs and carried away the Man of the Match award.
Cambrians batting first and at one stage they were 76 for 5 with
their key batsmen in the pavilion and at this Stage Skipper Buddhika de
Alwis joined him and built up the score. Both of them put on 171 runs
for the sixth wicket surpassing the Previous record for any wicket in
the limited over series. Also they passed the previous highest score of
250 for 9 set by Sebs in 1997.
Out of the two Dilan Played some delighted shots and it was like
spraying bullets.
He equalled the previous highest score set by Sahan Wijeratne by
scoring 116 runs with seven fours and five towering sixes.
Dilan turns out for Panadura Sports Club where he represented under
23 team and enable him to sharpen his skills and ability.
He will be a very useful player for the forthcoming Bangladesh tour
where schools will play five limited over matches.
