Ranil, Prabhakaran both confined to bunker - Wimal Weerawansa

LTTE Leader Velupillai Prabhakaran has been confined to a bunker in Puthukuduirrippu and UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe is kept inside Sirikotha because they have the same policies and attitudes, National Freedom Party Leader(NFF) Wimal Weerawansa said.

Addressing a press briefing in Colombo yesterday, Weerawansa said that the UNP will move towards destruction under the leadership of Ranil Wickremesinghe as the LTTE is being eliminated under the leadership of Prabhakaran.

”There is no one at Sirikotha to strengthen the hands of the UNP Leader. As the UNP Leader was confined with several UNP MPs in Sirikotha, Prabhakaran has been confined by the Security Forces to his bunker. “ The destiny of both of them will be decided in the next few days,” he further said.

He further said that massive development will take place in the country once terrorism was eradicated.. “ We have planned to make Sri Lanka one of the most powerful countries in the South Asia,” he said.

Answering a question raised by the media, Weerawansa said that there is no problem regarding the statement made by British MP John Ryan to expel Sri Lanka from the Commonwealth. Being a member of a commonwealth is not a matter to be proud of as Sri Lanka is no more a Colony,” he said. He further said Ryan is an LTTE supporter and he raises his voice on behalf of the LTTE. Therefore, we should not be concerned about his statement.

Healthcare and Nutrition Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva said UNPers were waiting for a welcome change in the UNP Leadership. “But now they have been dissapointed and a number of UNPers are rallying round the Government as a result.

Meanwhile Transport Minister Dullas Allahapperuma said that stern actions will be taken against UPFA candidates if they are found to be involved in election violence and breaking election laws at the upcoming Western Provincial Council Election.
