Gigabyte and Redington join Sri Lanka
Gigabyte Technology, a leading manufacturer of motherboards and
Redington, today announced a new distribution agreement with Sri Lanka
set to take effect immediately.
The deal comes at an exciting time as Gigabyte is ready to launch the
next generation Ultra durable 3 series motherboard in Sri Lanka.
The partnership will assign Redington as an official distributor for
the entire range of GIGABYTE motherboards products. The deal enhances
Redington’s product offerings, empowering customers with competitive
solutions featuring the renowned Gigabyte reputation for the best
quality and ultra durable PC hardware.

Rocell bathware launched
Rocell Bathware exhibited its products to the market at the recently
held ‘Architect 2009’, annual trade exhibition organized by the Sri
Lanka Institute of Architects (SLIA).
Rocell Bathware not only won the hearts of their consumers with their
new designs but also the judges at the exhibition with their creative
stall design modelled after and honouring the ‘Bathroom of the Future’
and winning the title of ‘Most Innovative Stall’ at the exhibition.

Thoradeniya said that the company would utilize one of the latest

in addition to vitreous china (porcelain) products, as fine fireclay
allows the manufacturer to produce large format products in Ceramic.
Rocell Bathware will be available to customers from this month at all
Rocell Showrooms.
COMBank open during pre New Year holidays
The Commercial Bank of Ceylon will be kept open for business on April
10 and 11 both statutory bank holidays, for the convenience of the
Bank’s customers islandwide.
The bank branches will be open on Friday April 10 from 9.00 am to
3.00 pm and from 9.00 am to 1.30 pm on Saturday April 11, enabling
customers to carryout all over-the-counter banking transactions
including opening of accounts and obtaining foreign exchange for travel
overseas.
However, on Good Friday branches at Chilaw, Ja-ela, Kandana,
Kochchikade, Negombo, Raddolugama, Seeduwa and Wennappuwa will close at
1.30 pm. “We decided to keep all our branches open on these two days or
else the Bank will be closed for six consecutive days from April, 9 to
the 14 which is inconvenient for customers.
We know that there will be a big demand for banking needs from the
customers prior to the Sinhala and Hindu New Year,” Deputy General
Manager - Operations of Commercial Bank Sanath Bandaranayake said.
Commercial Bank’s 365 day branches at Colombo 7, Negombo, Ampara,
Galle and Kandy City Centre will be open for business from April 9 to 14
while its 23 Supermarket Banking counters will also be open from April
9-13 till 7.30 pm.
As a part of E-Praja Kirana CSR initiative of E-WIS, 200 high
performing but underprivileged students were selected from the North
Central Province to be given school books and equipment for a year.

The program took place at the Mirisawetiya Temple, Anuradhapura
recently. E-WIS carries out many CSR activities of this nature and this
is one such activity they organize annually as a part of their CSR
vision “Eliminating barriers between urban and rural”.

closely working with E-WIS on this project said that companies which
strive hard to achieve business objectives should develop rural areas.
E-WIS has undertaken this responsibility since its early days and is
working towards creating a better tomorrow for children in rural regions
such as Anuradhapura”.

United Nations Global Compact. Despite the global economic recession, a
considerable portion of company’s funds are invested in E-Praja Kirana
CSR activities.
The Chairman of E-WIS Group, Sanjeewa Wickramanayake said all the CSR
activities of E-WIS are geared towards developing rural communities
especially with the aid of technology.
Despite the situation in the business arena due to global recession,
we decided to continue with our CSR vision in order to uplift the rural
communities. This program took place for the seventh consecutive year.
Up to now E-WIS has helped more than 2,000 students to continue their
higher studies. IT training, IT equipment and job opportunities have
also been provided in this region.

Youngest account holder to win Mitsubishi Montero
B. Kandasamy a 14 year old HNB Singithi account holder won the Pathum
Vimana 2008 Grand Draw prize, a luxury Mitsubishi Montero Jeep worth
over Rs. 11 million. Mast B. Kandasamy of Bambalpitiya maintained his
Singithi account at the HNB City Office.
The HNB Pathum Vimana is the biggest deposit draw in Sri Lanka with
prizes worth more than Rs. 120 million on offer, there is Rs. 20,000 up
