ILO’s 90th anniversary
The International Labour Organisation (ILO) will celebrate its 90th
anniversary this year.
The year marks an important milestone in the countdown to the ILOs
Centenary in 2019.
The 90th anniversary will be celebrated with national and regional
events which will include a high-level national event to be held at the
Presidential Secretariat on April 28 to mark the signing of the original
ILO constitution at the Versailles Peace Conference in 1919.
The overall theme for the commemoration of this event will be “Social
Dialogue on Decent Work for a Fair Globalisation”.
Under this overall theme, ILO’s enduring quest for social justice,
starting with the Constitution in 1919, reinforced by the Philadelphia
Declaration in 1944 and the 1998 Declaration on the Fundamental
Principles and Rights at Work, and again powerfully reconfirmed by the
Declaration on Social Justice in 2008, will be emphasized.
The events will reflect national priorities.
