Kandy Youths triumph

Kandy Youths Cricket Club scored a first innings win over Wattala Antonians Sports Club in their P. Sara Trophy Cricket Tournament match concluded at BRC Grounds yesterday.

The match turned out to be a very close affair with the Kandy Youths snatching a thrilling two-run first innings win.

But the Antonians fared disastrously in their second essay and were struggling at 78 for 7 when stumps were drawn thus they were denied of an outright win. Antonians' opener H. Perera in making 36 not out held one end up to thwart the Kandy Youths.

Wattala Antonians SC: 208 all out in 44 overs (Dinesh Nilanka 43, Lahiru Chathuranga 25, Jeffrey Vanderson 28, Yasiru Charuka 4 for 44, Chathura Perera 3 for 37, Chaminda Bandara 2 for 53) and 78 for 7 in 25 overs (H. Perera 36 n.o., Chaminda Bandara 2 for 6, Dilan Senanayake 2 for 17).

Kandy Youths CC: 210 all out in 76 overs (Kasun Alwis 39, Chathura Perera 26, Dilan Senanayake 47, Mohamed Feshal 48, M. Saffraz 3 for 16, Shehan de Silva 4 for 59, Kelum Gangodawila 3 for 29).
