Kandy schools
reopen today |
Schools in the
Kandy Municipal limits which were closed due to the Sacred Tooth
Relic exposition will reopen today, Central Province Education
Director Wijesiri Herath said. |
The exposition of the Sacred Tooth Relic at the Sri Dalada Maligawa
in Kandy concluded on Saturday, three days ahead of the scheduled
conclusion which was March 17.
The announcement on the conclusion of the exposition was made on
Saturday evening by Sri Dalada Maligawa Diyawadana Nilame Nilanga Dela
Bandara on the advice of the Mahanayakes of the Asgiriya and Malwatte
Chapters. A large number of worshippers including foreigners had arrived
in Kandy from the day of the exposition.
About 2,000 devotees from China, India, Korea, Thailand, Japan and
Myanmar have also paid homage to the Tooth Relic, Diyawadana Nilame
Nilanga Dela Bandara said. |
