Indika and Dinesh steal the limelight at Eliyakanda Hill Climb

Indika Gurusinghe and Dinesh Deheragoda were the fastest rider and the driver at the Eliyakanda Nations Trust Hill Climb which concluded yesterday in Matara.

Gurusinghe riding in the Thoroughbred racing event for bikes over 250 cc clocked the best time clocking 37.10 secs for the climb which has a distance of 675 metres. He was on Honda CRF4000. Shafraz Junaid was a close second with just .07 second away. The foreign rider who competed in this class was placed third.

The super cars event for 3,000 cc too was an event which was well competed with all leading drivers.

Deheragoda with his best time on the day also was declared the fastest driver of the day and also received the Preethi Palliyaguru Memorial Trophy for clocking the fastest time for the day.

Upulwan Serasinghe was the other driver to excel winning two events competing in two categories. He clocked 40.70 and 42.11 secs for over 12 kg and Ford Laser categories respectively.

Rider Indika Gurusinghe was the star in the motorcycle events winning two events. He also went on to win the Thoroughbred racing event for 125 cc class clocking 37.81 secs. Later he took the 250 cc class also recording the best time for the day.

The event organised by Southern Motor Sports Club was lavishly sponsored by Nations Trust Bank and Airtel with many co-sponsors coming into make this event a great success.
