H’tota Port to provide 56,000 jobs - SLPA Chairman

Nearly 56,000 job opportunities will be created in the Southern
region with the setting up of the Hambantota Port, said Sri Lanka Ports
Authority (SLPA) Chairman P. B. Wickrama.
He said the first phase of construction will cost US $ 420 million.
The entire port project will come into function within the next year.
He said 85 per cent of the construction of the port is funded by the
Government of China and the balance 15 per cent is borne by the Sri
Lanka Ports Authority. |
