Massive fund grant for roads

The Government has recently allocated a large sum of money for the
infrastructure facilities development in the Thumpane area, off
Galagedara, on the Kandy-Kurunegala Highway, Thumpane Pradeshiya Sabha
sources said.
According to a report from the 'pradeshiya sabha', the amount
allocated by the government for road development projects in and around
Thumpane is Rs. 65,700,000. This amount has been provided through the
government program 'Jaathika Saviya - Gama Neguma'. Meanwhile, the
government has allocated a sum of Rs. 22 million to be utilized for the
Galagedara public library and Galagedara government office construction
projects.
This amount has been allocated through another government project
called the program for infrastructure facilities development for the
local government bodies of the Island.
Another fund of Rs. 62 million has been allocated by the government
to be utilized in the implementation of the Rural Water Supply Project
for Kudagala and the Rural Water Supply Project for Kolugala, in the
Thumpane Pradeshiya Sabha area.The Government has received financial
assistance from the ADB (Asian Development Bank) for these projects.
The 'Local Authority' (of Thumpane) is hopeful that the government
will provide another large fund of Rs. 248 million through the 'Jaathika
Saviya - Gama Neguma program to be utilized for development work during
the year 2009.
The Thumpane public living in 124 'graama niladhaari' divisions, off
Galagedara will benefit from the development work. |
