Four doctors, six nurses for :
Pulmudai Mobile Hospital

The Health Ministry will deploy four doctors and six nurses to the
Mobile Hospital being constructed at the Pulmudai Mineral refinery for
civilians fleeing uncleared areas, in addition to the 52 member medical
team sent by India.
Health Ministry sources said a Medical Officer has also been assigned
to monitor the functioning of the hospital which is being constructed by
the Health Ministry in collaboration with the Indian High Commission in
Sri Lanka.
The hospital consisting of a Neuro surgical unit, Out Door Patient
unit, Xray unit, two theatres, laboratory, surgical ward , an Intensive
Care Unit and four medical wards is expected to provide basic facilities
for the civilians coming from uncleared areas. Patients with serious
ailments will be transferred to Padaviya and Vavuniya Hospitals where
facilities are available.
The Pulmudai Hospital will be opened to the public after electricity
and water facilities are provided. The construction of a ward complex
with two surgical theatres is under way at the Padaviya Hospital to
ensure that these civilians receive better health facilities.
The ministry expects to accommodate 120 patients in a ward. Health
Services Director General Dr.Ajith Mendis on Friday inspected the
Padaviya Garment factory where the Ministry has planned to set up a
hospital consisting of 350 beds to meet any emergency. Meanwhile,
Northern Province hospitals will get more than 110 nurses while over 250
nurses are to be posted to the Eastern hospitals in the coming weeks. A
group of 25 Sinhalese nurses are among the contingent to be deployed to
the Killinochchi hospital. |
