Artistes gift Art Center for Jaffna

Leading film artistes have set up a project to collect funds to build an art centre in Jaffna.

The initiator of the project is the queen of the Sri Lankan cinema and Golden Peacock Award winner Malini Fonseka. Ravindra Randeniya, Sangeetha Weeraratne, Sanath Gunatileke, Yashoda Wimaladharma and Nadeeka Gunasekara are also involved in this project.

"Our aim is to sooth the minds of those who have suffered immensely due to the conflict," Malini Fonseka said.

The Jaffna Art Centre will comprise a community centre, open

"This is our artistes' gift those living in the north. The response of all those related to the scene is very encouraging and everyone is eager to do their bit which goes to shoe that this is not merely an effort organised by the artistes," Ravindra Randeniya said.
