SLITHM book launch

The Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (SLITHM) is sponsoring a book titled "Hospitality Law - A guide to Hotel Management" authored by Attorney-At-Law andvisiting Lecturer in Law and Legislation of SLITHM, Dr. Irwin Jayasuriya.

In this book, Dr. Jayasuriya has studied the English and American Laws and the systems prevalent in those countries and shows that the law prevalent in UK and USA could be adapted to the Sri Lankan context to guide and safeguard the manager and the hotel company.

Though successive governments of the country had been only concerned with the arrivals of tourists and room sales, no proper study had been undertaken regarding the operation and intricacies involved in the Hotel Management.

Though we have depended on the civil and criminal laws of the country there are no specific laws enacted in this country for the guidance and protection of this important foreign exchange earning industry.

This book will be presented to Minister of Tourism Milinda Moragoda, at the launch on March 19, 2009 at 4.00pm at the SLITHM.
