Combined services go hi-tech
Dr. Sarath Amunugama, Minister of Public Administration and Home
Affairs said that action is being taken to introduce information
technology to the combined services. He was addressing a batch of 134
new recruits to the Sri Lanka Administrative Service at the Sri Lanka
Administrative Development Institute, Colombo 7.
The Minister said the environment and training are two leading
factors of efficiency. No service could be rendered to the country or
society if one is not equipped with commitment.
Those who are appointed to executive positions in the public service
should bear in mind that they are no longer administrators but managers.
The public servant should master the art of managing limited resources
around him.
He stressed that public servants should acquire a sound knowledge of
modern technology and be fitting persons to the world. Home Affairs
Minister, Chandrasiri Gajadheera, Ministry Secretary, D. Disanayake,
P.S.C. Chairman Luxmi Gunawardene and SLDAI’s Director W.M. Bandusena
also spoke. |
