Around one hundred and fifty thousand visited Kandy to worship the
Dalada yesterday which was also the Poya day. It is reported that rains
poured continuously for two hours with the commencement of the
exposition of the sacred relics.
The notable feature was that devotees continued to remain in the
queue uninterrupted for hours in the rain. The Maligawa Welfare Trust
with the help of donations, distributed food for the participants.
The popular belief among people that when there is an exposition of
the Sacred Tooth Relic there is rain even during the worst of drought,
has been proved beyond doubt this.
There has been heavy rain in Kandy since exposition began and this
has in the afternoon after the exposition had begun, yesterday
experienced one of the heaviest showers, but this did not deter the
large crowds from lining up in streets to pay homage to the Sacred Tooth
Relic at the Sri Dalada Maligawa. |
