President visits National Hospital

President Mahinda Rajapaksa and First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa
visited the Colombo National Hospital yesterday evening to inquire the
health of Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mahinda Wijesekera and
others who were flown to Colombo after the bomb blast at Akuressa.
The President has inquired National Hospital Director Dr. Hector
Weerasinghe and the specialist doctors about the health of the Minister.
Senior Presidential Advisor and Parliamentarian Basil Rajapaksa also
visited the National Hospital yesterday night.
Meanwhile, the Police Department yesterday appointed four
comprehensive teams to investigate into the blast which killed 14
persons including 5 representatives of local government bodies in the
Matara district.
Police Spokesman SSP Ranjith Gunasekera told the Daily News that a
massive search operation was launched in the area and no suspect was
still arrested over the incident.
Devundara PS Chairman Linton Abeydheera, Kamburupitiya PS Vice
Chairman Tilak Wijesekera, Akuressa PS Vice Chairman Upali Sarathchandra,
Matadra MC member I.H. Sirisena, Ahuraliya PS member Anura
Wickremasinghe and I. Fernando of Minister Mahinda Wijesekera’s security
detail were among the dead. |
