This play which introduces the modern concept of Box theatre will be
introduced to the locals is presented by the Inter Act Art group in
collaboration with the German cultural Centre. This modern theatre youth
production is directed by renowned dramatist M. Safeer.
Box theater is surpassing the existing Proscenium stage. Though this
method was not practiced in Sri Lanka the concept was recognised by
creators all over the world who wanted to go beyond the Proscenium
stage. There is no space between the actor and the audience as the
performance has a close link with the viewer.

The audience is made to be very attentive as the performance oozes of
power. A maximum audience of 75 members can witness the incidents unfold
in the backdrop of a rather untraditional stage setting.
The Inter Act Art group had been involved in the field of modern art
for over twenty years, and practiced many novel and experimental
methodologies in producing local creations.
Furthermore, they are still experimenting on the latest methodologies
related to theatre.
As a registered cultural organization most of their creations have
won awards at National level. Their creations have won lot of positive
criticism and evaluation and have been treated as stepping stones in the
field.
Having provided opportunities and training to creative people in
various parts of the Island (Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim) to bring them to
the national level they have built a few mini drama groups to carry on
the purpose of showcasing interesting and quality productions. |
